SUMPORT Launched!

After a two-day meeting, the European project SUMPORT has officially kick started in Trieste with its partners establishing the ground for a fruitful cooperation. The project, led by the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative, brings together ten partners from all over the Mediterranean area.

SUMPORT is co-funded by the Interreg MED Programme and will be completed in 2019, with a total budget of almost 2.4 million euros. Its aim is to increase the planning capacities on sustainable mobility of port cities through training activities and exchange of experiences. As a result, participating port cities will draft or update their own Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans. Moreover, port cities will also implement and simulate pilot actions for testing various types of measures (e.g. bicycles lanes, bike sharing system, carpooling, ICT application for public transport) concerning sustainable mobility with a concrete impact on citizens’ everyday life.

SUMPORT’s partners are:

  • Central European Initiative-Executive Secretariat and Institute for Transport and Logistics (Italy),
  • City of Durres (Albania),
  • City of Kotor (Montenegro),
  • Valenciaport Foundation and the Foundation of the Valentian Community (Spain),
  • Municipality of Koper (Slovenia),
  • Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Region of Epirus-Regional Unit of Thesprotia (Greece)
