Press release: SUMPORT Transferability methodology

Partner Las Naves implements a methodology that capitalizes the public utility of the pilot projects developed in València

The public institution attached to València City Council has expressly created this analytical procedure for the transfer of results, which aims at improving the efficiency and public utility of the results to achieve a more positive impact in the daily life of citizens.

The different projects managed by Las Naves will implement this methodology. The first will be the European initiative SUMPORT, with several pilots actions in the Mediterranean. The ValenciaPort Foundation - also part of the project - will develop three of them in Valencia.

Las Naves promotes urban innovation focused on people. Following this line of work, the public institution under the València City Council has developed a results’ transfer methodology designed to transfer to the local government those specific results of the programs, projects or actions developed by the Center for Urban Innovation, focusing on issues such as mobility, energy, health or culture, among other subjects.

The methodology is structured in four phases and it also includes the design of a specific tool for the definition and subsequent identification of successful practices in each of the cases.

Thus, in the first phase will be carried out the identification of Successful Practices, taking into account efficiency criteria and counting with experts on the related field; the second step is to determine  the most appropriate transfer destinations of the most successful practices (entities, institutions and organisms) after having been tested; during the next phase, the work plan and the mechanisms that must be implemented to make this transfer effective will be designed; and the last phase, that of execution, the procedure will be activated and the elements that have been determinants of success or failure will be systematized.

The pioneer will be the European project SUMPORT

Las Naves is currently developing the SUMPORT project –co-financed by European Interreg Med program- that seeks solutions to connect, in terms of sustainable mobility, the Port of València with the city and other Mediterranean cities. With the aim of implementing the demos actions, consisting of a system of electric bicycles and shared vehicles for passengers and port personnel, the pioneer methodology for transferring results from Las Naves will analyze the different elements of the matter, the specific policies and the political and administrative agents involved. Once this radiography is obtained, the actions will be designed and then, the purpose and objectives will be eventually determined.

As explained by the Councilor for Innovation of the City of València, Berto Jaramillo, the ultimate goal of this methodology "is to establish a system that sets out the steps to be taken in the SUMPORT project and in all those that are developed in our city, the results of which will be transferred to the municipal public policies, elaborating a guide of good practices from all those experiences that have demonstrated their effectiveness in the reduction or eradication of a certain problem".

Meeting and presentation of the methodology in Igoumenitsa

The results transfer methodology of SUMPORT were presented in Igoumenitsa (Greece), where the technical meeting of the European project was held and Las Naves and the ValenciaPort Foundation participated together with other Mediterranean port cities in Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Montenegro, Cyprus and Albania (Koper, Kotor, Durres, Igoumenitsa and Limassol). The purpose of the project is to improve sustainability, mobility, the environment and promote innovation in the port area, as well as to reduce pollution, promoting low carbon emissions. It has a global budget of 2'3 million euros, and in our city it will contribute to improve the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the Port.
