From now on, users will have a new way to move! The bike sharing system is one of the pilot actions and it brings a modern way to move throughout the city - more healthy, green, cost-effective and convenient.
On Wednesday, 24th July 2019 SUMPORT's partner RUTH (Regional Unit of Thesprotia) held a practical demonstration of the operation of the Bike Sharing System. The event aimed to present the bike sharing system, one of the pilot action that has been developed thanks to the SUMPORT project.
During the demonstration, the Vice Governor of the Regional Unit of Thesprotia Mr. Thomas Pitoulis stressed the need for the adoption of mild circulation measures for both the locals and the visitors. This is particularly relevant during high season in the area of RUTH. Through the operation of the Bike Sharing System, the aim is to promote active means of transport such as the bike, while at the same time to reduce the motorized traffic.
One of the bike stations is located at Ethnikis Antistasis Str., opposite the headquarters of the Regional Unit of Thesprotia. Cyclopolis, the platform that enables the bike sharing system was represented by Mr Charis Siakandaris who described in detail the process of registration, use and general operation of the system, designed to be user-friendly.
